Njambi Koikai back in Kenya after undergoing treatment in the U.S

Popular Kenyan media personality and Reggae songstress Njambi Koikai is officially back into the country after a long stay abroad for treatment.

Taking to social media on Tuesday, Njambi – who has been battling Thoracic Endometriosis – wrote: “Great to be back. Thanking God for all He has done for me. So happy to see my family and you all. God bless you abundantly. Taking a rest and I’ll see you all soon.”

Njambi, according to information in her GoFundMe account, has suffered stage 4 endometriosis, coupled with pneumothorax (thoracic endometriosis) for over 15 years, thereby causing her severe pelvic pain and lung collapses every month.

She publicly announced the news in 2017, before leaving Kenya for Atlanta, United States, in February last year to seek further treatment.

“Initially, it was anticipated that I would leave the hospital within three days of receiving surgery. However, due to several complications especially caused by the delicate state of my lungs, I required intensive care which meant I was hospitalised for 21 days,” said the Fyah Mummah, as she is popularly known by her fans, on the fundraising platform.

“I had a two-in-one surgery (laparascopic and thoracic) to remove the endometriosis lesions that had covered my uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, bowel, and my chest. My right lung was completely damaged due to the constant insertion of chest tubes used to treat the regular lung collapses.”

She further added that: “My surgery took over eight hours, and I’m eternally grateful it was successful, especially  since my surgeons say that this is one of the worst cases they have ever seen. After surgery, I had numerous needles inserted to administer different medication into my body.”

News of her recovery and return has warmed the hearts of many Kenyans online, especially since she posted regular updates of her treatment abroad:
