An on-loan Chelsea player has been fined for reportedly grabbing an opponent’s private parts during a league match.
Matt Miazga, on-loan Chelsea defender at Vitesse Arnhem was caught on video briefly grabbing Heerenveen player Denzel Dumfries’ privates after which he (Denzel) falls to the ground in discomfiture as Miazga walks away.
The incident happened during a league match between the two clubs on January 20. They drew 1-1.
Vitesse Arnhem on Wednesday announced punishment for the 22-year old player who left the New York Red Bulls for Chelsea in 2016 where he played only two matches before joining the Dutch club on loan.
Vitesse striker Tim Matavza was also fined alongside Miazga for allegedly elbowing Dumfries during the same match.
Matavz will serve a four-match ban imposed by the Dutch football association (KNVB), whereas both he and Miazga were fined by the club for ‘inappropriate behaviour’.
‘First of all, we regret the commotion that has arisen. We have fined both Tim and Matt directly after the events because they do not fit the behaviour shown within the fair play concept of the club,’ said Vitesse technical director Marc van Hintum.
