One hundred and fifty two students at Kenyatta Girls’ Secondary School in Thika West Sub-County, Kiambu County were on Monday morning (November 13) ferried to examination centres in government and police vehicles after heavy rains, which pounded the area Sunday night, flooded their school compound.

The 152 students arrived at the school gate a few minutes to the time Mathematics Paper 1 exam was slated to begin. Though shivering, the students managed to sit for the test, given the examination centres were not affected by the rains.

Thika West Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), Tom Anjere, accompanied by area Director of Education, Ronald Mbogo, Sub-County Administration Police Commander (DAPC), Peter Nzimbi, and deputy OCPD, Bernard Ayoo, released their vehicles to assist in ferrying the students to examination centres.

DCC Anjere assured the students of the government’s commitment in ensuring they successfully sit for the national tests.

“We are working closely with the Ministry of Education team and security agencies to monitor and provide help to affected students during this wet season,” said DCC Anjere.

Kenyatta Girls Secondary School principal, Jane Wambui King’ang’I, lauded the government for providing much-needed help to the girls, which ensured the exam schedule was not affected.
