Hundreds of Raila Odinga’s supporters breached Kisumu International Airport security, demanding to be addressed by the National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, who was scheduled to fly to Nairobi on Monday evening (December 4).

Mr Odinga’s rooters claimed the Opposition chief was returning to the capital without addressing them, a move they termed as “unusual”.

The supporters of the ex-Premier forcefully accessed the airport Pavilion, chanting pro-NASA slogans.

Mr Odinga, who was at the VIP waiting lounge at the time, however, did not grant them their wish.

The NASA leader had earlier Monday met Kisumu Governor Prof. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o at his office, where they discussed “how Prof. Nyong’o can make good use of his position to strengthen devolution.”

Mr Odinga later met Kisumu County MCAs at the County Assembly.

The Opposition chief later in the morning, in the company of Governor Nyong’o and other Kisumu leaders, visited Kachok dumpsite to oversee the launch of a relocation of the waste-yard.

The NASA leader had, before making his way to the airport, made a stop-over at the Kisumu Bus Park, where he addressed a roadside gathering.

When Mr Odinga’s convoy was making its way to the airport from Kondele, hundreds of boda boda operators and residents rode and ran behind it respectively.

“Baba (Mr Odinga) has no addressed us, we want him to stop and talk to us. We want him to share with us his plans. He only addressed people at the Bus Park,” a supporter was heard saying.
